Visiting Canada

Beautiful view of the SkyBridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Surrey, Canada

How does it work?

«Many foreign nationals wish to come to Canada for tourism, to visit family and friends, or for business purposes.

Visa-exempt foreign nationals do not need a temporary resident visa (TRV), also known as a visitor or tourist visa, to enter Canada, but may need an electronic travel authorization (eTA) if traveling to Canada by air.

Foreign nationals with a visa must apply for a visitor’s visa to be admitted to Canada.

Foreign nationals entering Canada as visitors may remain in the country:

Until 6 months after the date stamped in their passport; OR.
Until the date indicated in writing by the port of entry officer in their passport.
Parents and grandparents may, instead of applying for a visitor visa, apply for a SuperVisa, which would allow them to enter Canada for up to five years.»
